Estate Agent didn't show up!

I think everyone's being a tad hard on the OP - they just wanted to rant

Had a similar experience with crap estate agent - first house we looked at with them, when we asked for a 2nd viewing they called 3 minutes before I was due to be there (had already left work early to get there on time) to let me know they weren't coming as they had left the keys in their other coat - at home!!
Second time, same estate agent, I was 10 minutes late after being stuck in traffic - had no mobile for the estate agent, she had mine though. Called the office to say I'd be late - nobody in. Showed up at house - house was empty and nobody there! Turned out to be a blessing as I asked a neighbour if he'd seen her, and he hadn't so she can't have waited for long - and then got into a conversation where it turned out there were building works due to start behind the property in a few months which put us off immediately
Emailed her that night to say sorry I'd missed her, it was a shame as we wanted to see that house and I had appointments all weekend - but did they have anything else on their books, so we could try and arrange something after that. We knew they had something on their books that we'd want to see as that day they had put a house we'd already offered on, online!
... no response.
I figured she just didn't want to sell us a house. It's her loss!
Remember the estate agent works on commission so if they don't show up and don't sell you the house, they lose out, not you . 0 -
I think people are being very hard on the OP, and it's not justified. I would be annoyed in this situation, as even if you're held up, a quick phone call can sort it out (and if you're called away suddenly because of something serious then you should still do it, or ask someone else to do it for you).
Puncutality is a virtue, and politeness costs nothing.0 -
C'mon, you're making this up now - they were knocking on next door's front door, and they couldn't see your sale board advertising that you were the one for sale..........?
Certainly not making it up googler, (got better things to do:D) and as HB58 correctly surmised, I didn't have a 'For Sale' board up.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

As I asked earlier - Why on Earth wouldn't you have a Sale Board?0 -
Why on earth wouldn't they have one....?
Depends where you live or if you want people knocking at your door asking if they "Could just possibly have a quick look around as they're only in the area for today" Oh yea........ or just want to see if there's anything worth pinching possibly?
Sales Boards are often more for the EA's benefit - look how many places we have on the books so come to us.
It's all down to personal circumstances.
They're only of any use to the vendor if they think a potential buyer might just be passing. That isn't always the case.0 -
Wow it's a good job i've been on this board a long time and know that some people can be particularly harsh, imagine if I was a newbie i'd be scared off for good!!
Anyway thank you to all who replied especially the ones who realised yes I was a bit miffed and not trying to be the centre of the universe and did indeed just want to rant, I shan't bother next time.0 -
We waited in freezing temperatures for an EA to turn up for one viewing. After 20 minutes I called the office and they said 'Oh yes, the owner cancelled the viewing yesterday' ummmm....you didn't think to tell us then??
We didn't bother with that EA again, especially as the previous house we'd seen through them was advertised as 3 bed, but only had 2, so it was a waste of time viewing it.0 -
A couple of years ago we arranged to view two houses in the same street, with about an hour to spare between them. Put extra money in the meter and strolled into town and back. At the arranged time we met the seller (still pottering outside in his garage as he'd been when we walked back from viewing the first house). When we introduced ourselves he told us the house was no longer for sale and he'd told the EA. Disappointed and cross, we went straight to the EA to complain about not having been told this. He seemed genuinely surprised at this, as the vendor had not informed him that he was no longer selling ( but did say there was a divorce involved)
The house is still on the market.0 -
Hi all
We went for 2 viewings yesterday, first viewing was of an empty property that the EA was meant to be meeting us at to show us around. Well we waited for 20 mins and he never showed up, never called, nothing. I am not happy and I intend to tell them so today. Have you ever experienced this before and if so what did you say to them? I would like to look around this house but I am wary of arranging another appointment with them now as I just don't have the time to be sat around waiting for them to no-show again.
Second viewing the vendor showed us round and we really like the property so all is good there.
Now that every troll and loser has told you that your a loser here is the advice you asked for.
Smash down the front door of the EA in question and napalm them. Does help if you have muscles and a ripped vest, but hey M&S slacks can carry the image.
Job done, and no EA will mess with you again.0
