how to get rid of 100 tyres

Hi all

My friend who lives in the kent area and she has over 100 tyres that she needs to get rid of. She recently purchased some stables and the previous owner has left a big pile of tyres on the roof.
We have looked at paying someone to get rid of these but we weren't sure if there is any way of recycling these or if anyone knew of any where who would make use of these.
Any ideas would be gratefully recieved!
Thanks

  • Hi,

if she's got stables then I presume she is in the country, so will have some farmers as neighbours.

Some farmers use plastic sheeting and old tyres to cover a sillage pit, so she could ask around.

Ask on freecycle in your area. Some places do use old tyres I just got a place down road from my that uses them for go kart tracks

As above but widen your offer to the Freecycle and Freegle goups further afield. Also allotment groups.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

2nd Freecycle/Freegle. Know a few people who use them stacked with a liner inside to grow things like carrots, potatoes, anything tall or deep when you don't have tall or deep ground normally.

I was going to say the same thing - on our local 'facebook' selling page lots of people have been asking for them to use as a planting area for potatoes etc - as they are a nice size and pretty rot proof - get on your facebook and offer them 'FREE' as that will always get people wanting them lol- i found once 1 person had asked for them for planting veg in - everyone else then thought it was a good idea and wanted to try it too! - good luck :j:j

Also try your local primary schools - they can also be interested in using some as planters for veg / flowers etc.

The company that takes the recycling from your doorsteps might be interested: see first paragraph on the link. In our area its donarbon, others is veolia. They might come pick them up and pay you for them (!?) as looks like they have a recyclable value once they get turned into rubber chips. hth - worth a phone call? Otherwise my council has a recycling officer who makes a local directory of what you can recycle where, could be worth contacting them
