New Job (to go self employed or employed)?

Hiya everyone
so ive found a job caring for a lady with fibromyalgia, which will be 9.5 hours in term time and 4.5 during holidays. Anyway Social Services want to know if id rather be employed or self-employed, from what ive heard self-employed is tricky and loads of paperwork etc, so really im here for advice...........go self-employed or employed also if self-employed what do i have to do/sort out/arrange etc

thank you in advance

    Is that weekly hours?

Always easier to go employed, no tax return, keeping logs etc.

If this is a regular commitment and your hours and conditions are set by Social Services then you seem to be an employee. It is not a matter of choice: the Social Services should know this!

I'm the opposite. Self-employed every time. It is very easy filling out a self assesment tax return each year. 3 lines takings less expenses equals profit. If you do it online it's just 2 lines and the computer figures out the profit and the tax due. Logs you should be keeping anyway as you can claim mileage to a temporary workplace if working from home whether employed or self employed.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
