    Hi all,

    So quick update -

The AA have acknowledge our situation and will be writing shortly to let me know what is happening

Hubby just received letter from Virgin CC thanking him for being in touch and for being an excellent customer therefore they've stopped all interest on the card (22.4%) chuffed to bits! They did however say they would have to default him but they would give him 30 days notice of this action.

However - they've asked for this months min payment to be made by 30th May but we've only paid £10. They'll be receiving £12.08 as part of our DMP after the first payment is taken on 1st June. Do I need to do anything?

Also- do I send a copy of this letter to CCCS for their records?

Thanks in advance all you wonderful people

  • hi there :) i never sent any letters from creditors to the CCCS. The only letter they did want to see was a letter from a creditor saying they had passed on my account to a DCA. I think they just wanted this as it had the amount owed and the new people to be dealing with. I'd just file it all away in case you need it for future reference :)

well done on the virgin stopping interest :) x

Hi - I received a letter from Virgin today as well. They've accepted the amount from CCCS £42.67 and have stopped all interest as well. Like your letter they say they'll have to default me - but I hoping that this is all part of the process.

Fingers crossed the other creditors are just as understanding xx

    Eighth Anniversary Combo Breaker
You will be surprised how helpful your creditors will be since i contacted them all and set up payment plans with them all they have stopped all interest, the only problem one was Argos and was referred to debt collection but as i have not defaulted they cannot do anything . I am finally nearly debt free after 5 yrs only fly in the ointment now is Nat west was prepared to to pay the debt off with my ex husband today but Nat west have cocked up the account should of been referred to their collection agency and frozen which was arranged last february 2011 through the cab but someone decided to send it back to branch without my knowledge so each month since last year it has accrued £700 in interest oops, and as i was making regular arranged payments i did not receive statements as it was supposed to be held by collections agency. I am not a happy bunny so have made a official complaint they have 10 days to sort out or financial ombudsman here i come and i am expecting the interest to be taken off as my branch has said it should not of happened.I wait with baited breath lol

    Hi all,

More letters have arrived so I'll update you:

    • Virgin CC have agreed to stop all interest and have accepted the DMP payment
    • Argos have stated that being a "responsible lender" they've frozen my account! I've cut my card up so it won't be used. No news as to whether they've accepted the DMP offer but we'll wait and see what happens.
    • Hubby's CC with Lloyds - they've accepted the payment and no more charges/interest!
    • Barclaycard - Hmmm, now. Don't know how to take this one. they've said they've handed this over to their debt recovery dept after being infoemd we'll in financial difficulty. Now, I'm not sure if they're referring to my letter of CCCS letter but they've told us that they've stopped all ADDITIONAL CHARGES but we or the debt management company need to get in touch with them before 16th June otherwise they'll re-instate all the charges? What would you advise please? I wonder if this is referring to my "standard letter" from the DMP pack and they've not yet received CCCS communication? Should I write to them or speak with CCCS first? Any advice would be appreciated please.
So, 4 down (well 2 defo) only another 8 (or10) to go!

Just to add - I've never felt happier. No more stress/sleepless nights/arguing after facing up to our debt and I feel like a new person. Yes, it's gonna take a long time to pay off but at least I can look forward to this time period knowing I'm paying off my debt rather than adding to it.

Look forward to your advice - and many thanks!

  • hey :)

Barclaycard has been our pain in the a$$! I called them myself though in the first instant and over the phone they were quite nice, over letters they seem to use standard templates that don't match with telephone calls (ggrrr) but if you don't want to call and speak to them call the cccs and they will get on to it :)

    well done so far x
