So hardHello,

In your situation I'd bite the bullet and move in with your wifes parents for 6 months or so and save like hell.
I did it for a few months and it was grim but on the bright side, we were comfortably able to buy our own house and the MIL ironed my shirts and cooked our dinner. Cushty.0 -
how much were you saving per month? You be lucky:T0

Well the difference between renting and living at the inlaws was about a grand per month (rent, bills, food etc.) extra into our savings account on top of what we were saving anyway. We did pay a bit of board but it wasn't significant.
Ended up with a 25% deposit, a dirt cheap mortgage rate and some rainy day savings. Well worth the sacrifice I think.0 -
how long did it take you? i was thinking of £800 a month and push to pay car loan offYou be lucky:T0

i can not belive some of the price people are chargeing for rented houses!
the mortgage would have been the same price!
what the heck are you suppose to do!:(You be lucky:T0 -
That's the rental market though unfortunately. We are currently paying £470pcm for a 3 bed terraced house. There are 3 bed terraced houses available in our town for about £65-70k which would be less in mortgage payments than our current rent....what makes it worse is we know our landlord only paid £38k for the house!jimmy_teabags wrote: »i can not belive some of the price people are chargeing for rented houses!

£470 rent doesn't seem very much
In Aberdeen you can be £700 a month for a one bedroom flat, it's shocking!0 -
I'm not comfortable with the hardness of that hello. Soften it down a bit, or I'm going to have to cash my chips in and bow out.0
