Cleaning out the closet/wardrobe

Long story short, back in 2008 I separated from my then wife and as a result of our separation agreement took on a lot of debt, a lot my own but also a significant amount of hers too. Now 4 years down the line, i managed to pay off almost all of it..

I'm now with a new partner and we are wanting to look for a house together, I thought I'd better check my credit report and ensure everything is in order. To my horror I have 2 defaults and a CCJ!
I knew about the CCJ and have since satisfied it, but alas have ever applied to have it marked as satisfied. I now want to take steps to get the CCJ amended to satisfied but I have no idea where my proof of payment is nor even remember who the CCJ was actioned by. All I have a case number ad the court which issued the CCJ. How do I go about proving its been paid?

Regarding my defaults (one for £225? I just finished paying off a 7k debt why would not paid 225? and another for £800). I'm pretty sure I never received any documentation on these...can I challenge them? Problem is I have no original paper work as I have since moved house, left the country and returned. is it worth me paying these debts?

Or should I just wait 6 years (2014 will be the sixth year) before I to attempt to get a mortgage?
