when did you agree to pay £100 a month for the 09/10 debt ?
Have you missed or made a late payment on this agreement ?
how much was the liability order ?
what goods did the bailiff put on the notice of seizure ?
what charges did the bailiff put on the notice seizure ?
are the charges broken down to explain what fees you have been charged ?

Get a pen and paper ready to write down the answers then phone the Council and ask the following questions:
1 - how many Liability Orders they have against you
2 - the dates they were obtained
3 - the addresses they were for
4 - the period of time each covers
5 - how much each one was for
6 - how much is still outstanding
7 - the dates they were passed on for enforcement

I was in the same situation.

I owed over £2000 in arrears over several years.

The Council usually like to recover all arrears in the same financial year.

I wrote to them with a financial statement detailing income and expenditure and made an offer of £20 per month which they agreed.

We did have a visit from the bailiff and my advice would be to not deal directly with the bailiff but to contact the council.

Say you are in the process of applying for CTB and could they give you some breathing space by calling off the bailiffs.

They wont need to break in, they are dab hands in deception and will trick the police in to hammering on your door.
Lock your gates with anything you can, lock all doors, ask them to deliver the actual liability order they claim to have from an upstairs window.
(they wont have one as councils fake them in fake courts and sign them themselves.)
Place any police on oath, " ask them to confirm they are acting upon oath" video this, then remain silent and ignore all the lies and tricks to get you to open the door.

Then when they have gone, get some correct advice from the council as to what charges can be made

The CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) may be another place you can try. They should be able to liaise on your behalf with the council and the bailiffs. Also, when I worked at the CAB (a few years ago, so the rules may have changed), council tax arrears could be stacked - for example, two years would be stacked together and you'd pay an agreed amount monthly.

These are important and could save you a lot of money.

Vax, if the council fake the liability orders as you state, why would they not fake the amounts that can be legally charged by bailiffs when collecting unpaid arrears?
