Exit Fees for Bank Taken Over

Our Mortgage was with Bank of Ireland but they recently got taken over by Mortgage Works.
We were on a fixed but they will be putting up rate soon - no date given.
As part of mortgage, we have a loan.
On moving mortgage to another bank, we have been told we would not have to pay any fee on Mortgage. However, we have had two different answers from Mortgage Works whether we would have to pay a fee on loan - one advisor said no, another yes.
As the mortgage company was taken over by another company - which we had no choice - do we have to pay fees?

What does your original contract say? That is the key document. Go back to Mortgage Works and tell them you have had two different people tell you different things and you require the information in writing. Whatever you get in writing will be the info you go by.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
