Recycle your old boiler

Hello,

Now that the government boiler scrappage scheme has closed, I am renovating a flat and have an old, but functioning boiler. I know some energy companies allow you to trade your old boiler in for a discount off a new one, as do some plumbing companies. But what I am wondering is are there any companies who will give you cash for your old boiler? Like the cash for old mobile phones companies. I have a friend who can buy the new boiler at trade prices for me, and this works out cheaper than any part exchange offer.

Any information or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks MSE loving your work!:money:

I'm no expert, but if I was in your position I would either:

    a) Strip out any known working non-gas parts (PCB, controls etc) and list them on eBay, then weigh the rest in as scrap.

    or

    b) List the complete unit on eBay for collection only.

A lot of people would strip the whole thing down and list every component on eBay individually, but I've never been to happy about listing used wet/gas parts when I can't guarantee their condition, or the expertise of the person who will be fitting them!
