Saw Jamie Oliver interviewing some "Gorilla Gardeners" on his Ministry of food program. they just went aroung planting fruit bushes, and veg on council/public land and even planted veg in the flower boxes and planters in the local town. all without council concent. raised a very valid point. Could you imagine the council taking you to court to prosecute you for planting veg!! I'm seriously thinking of just planting veg & fruit tress on some scrub land on the other side of my boundry fence.. it's quite a big verge of scrubland between my house and a road. theres no pedestrian access or footpaths near it and it's never ever maintained by the council. it's just lying there doing nothing... what do you lot think??Live, Love & Laugh A Lot!0

I heard a rumour that Newtownabbey Council are thinking of creating more allotments in their area so keep your eyes peeled for information about that0

I have three acres of land between portadown and Bleary that i am thinking of portioning out and renting as allotments if i think enough interest would be gained
Rob, I would be interested if you are going ahead with this. Any indications of how much you expect to rent the allotments for ?0 -
Craigavon Council. NO SPARE LAND!!, Give me a break, Let me see, Making the assumption it's their's, there's a load of scrubland behind the Courts, (About 1 Acre) There's god knows how many acres beside LIDL stretching up behind Highfield. Would be interesting to know if the council own this land!!!
A large amount of that land at Highfield is in the ownership of a private company, not the Council. However, Craigavon Council do appear to have a sizeable land bank.0 -
craigavon council used to have allotments near roundabout 2 .
But they where always being vandalised ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
Saw Jamie Oliver interviewing some "Gorilla Gardeners"
Hmmm, Great Ape Gardeners, sounds interesting and slightly scary ... perhaps you meant Guerilla Gardeners :-)
Anyway, anyone interested in allotments in North Down might want to see our campaign to have the Holywood Allotments reinstated. See the Holywood Transition Town wiki.0 -
There will be 38 with running water and metered electric between Randalstown and Duneane early next Spring. Watch the Antrim/Ballymena guardian around the last week in Feb for details contact etc. Won't be dear
