  • I see you are getting gluten free goodies at discount , that is great news for me as I have celiac disease and I am visiting the Uk for three weeks soon. Great thread folks, just found it!
  • I am visiting the UK soon and I have found great sites on the net to save me money. So far I have got cheap tickets for the express coach at megabus.com and cheap theatre tickets with a free meal thrown in at lastminute.com. I have travelled many times by megabus and megatrain and they run a fantastic service.

Hi, just been reading this instead of working after clicking on the link from the MSE email I received.
I buy Aquafresh toothpaste from the £ shop, which is a lot cheaper than buying from the SM.

    Hello from a lurker!
I don't know if you have a B&M shop near you? But they've some lovely wall pictures etc and not too expensive. Or if you've time maybe a look in charity shops or car boot sales, a bit hit and miss but you never know!

Well I went to B&M picked up a lovely big canvas - not for my sitting room but decided it would like nice in the kitchen. £5 - bargain, so thanks for that little tip.

We also have a Home Bargains too which I shall visit tomorrow and do a little stock-up. It's in our city centre where car parking is expensive, however if you use a car park which shared by Matalan, Staples and HB, provided you spend £5 in any of those shops you get your parking fees back. :rotfl: Only up to 2 hours but that's usually enough.

I love both B&M and HB - you can pick up some great bargains.

Bought some art prints online, already have some cheap charity shop frames, they don't all match so will give them a lick of paint. £27 on those so still well under my £100 room revamp budget.

A bit off topic but I've just ordered a Power Pack to fit a manual wheelchair. My husband is a wheelchair user and it is really hard work pushing him around. In the mobility shops they retail at around £600 to £700 - online - brand new £287 - quite a difference.

Can second the Farm Foods Nicky toilet rolls. As good as Andrex and a lot less.

I asked my dentist as well, as I'm a bit precious about my teeth. She said as long as there are 1000 parts per million (ppm) or up of flouride then it is absolutely fine and that price made no difference. Obviously I can't give medical advice but if you're curious it is definitely worth asking--dentist on toothpaste and even the pharmacist/doctor about over the counter things.

Back on toothpaste, I've found that the flavour actually plays a big role in how clean my teeth feel. OH's parents use a very expensive toothpaste for sensitivity and I can't stand it. Likewise I'm not found of Aldi although OH likes it. I think the key is that neither of these have a strong minty flavour. I'm on the lookout for a budget brand that I like the flavour of and in the mean time I just shop around for the big C.
