Change of partner on Mortgage

I bought my house with my sister in Nov 2006. I now wish to transfer my sisters share of the mortgage and house to my partner. Can someone please advise me if this is straight forward? I have the feeling there will be many fees involved and want it to be as straight forward as possible. My mortgage is currently fixed with RBS until Nov 2007. Any advice very welcome! thank you.

Should be easy. Its called a transfer of equity and is fairly cheap but done by solicitor. Discuss with RBS first and find good solicitor.

  • Might be off the mark but would be worth checking if stamp duty applies. I've just gone through this in reverse - taking partner off the mortgage and solicitor advised that in some circumstances stamp duty is charged. Might be wrong but better to know all the costs up front...

  • Thank you for your advice and time.. I will contact a solicitor soon, hopefully it is straight forward!!!
