write LOTS of letters, to anyone and everyone,
I helped organise a charity auction event and everything we auctioned or raffled was blagged by sending letters explaning what we were doing to local and big companys.
it helps if you can produce a little programme for the night, or posters/leaflets and advertise the companys hat have helped you (the local ones like that a lot!)
keep a list of who you have written too and wether you have heard back from them.
you will be very surprised who helps a lot, and who doesnt!
good luck0 -

Contact the Large Companys , Adidas , McDonalds etc , as well as the clothes shops (Topman helped us out) , and give full details regarding what you have planned , and asking for any products they may be able to spare. Also get in touch with local travel agents/hotels as they usually give weekends away etc! May be an idea to see if a local paper would be intrested in covering your story , and if they are inform the companies you contact of this , as they will see it as free advertising!
Good luck and hope all goes well!James thinks worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere
If i help you...Please thank me! :beer:0 -

I remember organising a fete once and writing to Britivc. They sents loads of free cans and bottles of juice and pop. I think like the others above had said, just write to large companies explaining what you're doing, they're more often than not willing to send out some freebies to help out.0

When I was fundraising for a local charity a few years back I targeted local shops with the promise of promoting them at the event and after the event I sent a write up to the local paper with how much I raised and again thanking the local shops. I got some brilliant tombola/raffle prizes.
I also went to boot fayres and bartered on new small toys for tombola prizes, got some excellent deals when I explained it WAS for charity and not to sell on.
Good luck and hope you raise a lot of money
