Buying a house in Scotland

Hi there,
I'm moving north of the border soon (Glasgow) and I know the Scottish house buying system is very different to the English one. I'm extremely lucky that I don't need to wait for my house to sell before buying up there so am hoping this will smooth things over a bit (still want to sell my house as quickly as possible though
).
Does anyone know of a good guide to all the ins and outs of buying a house under the Scottish system?
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks

Here's one from Consumer Focus Scotland - it's taken from a larger publication published by The Stationery Office
Your starting point should be to hire a Scottish solicitor based in or near Glasgow, so that if you find something you like, they're ready to act fast to note interest and potentially put a quick offer in for you.0 -
it can be a lot quicker also, once you get your head round the "offers over" system, put your bid in and if it gets accepted, sometimes things move quickly, my sister completed in 3 weeks0

Thanks for this, really helpful :j
I'm not looking to be up there until September so there is a bit of time but the advice re. having solicitors in place ahead of time is great. All a bit complicated by the fact that I live in Essex at the mo! Fun times ahead
Fingers crossed :cool:0 -
I would suggest you try the Glasgow Solicitors Property Centre (www gspc co uk).
It has lots of listings all in one place and operates on behalf of a good number of different Glasgow-based solicitor companies. They provide lots of useful advice and support as well.
It won't cover everything but it is a good starting place. Good luck.0 -
