Why cant I claim working tax credit or any benefit?

Yes, the initial award is based on what you earned last year. If the OP gave those figs he may have been told that he was inelligible. You have to tell them that you are now earning less. They don`t seem to ask - just tell you that you are not entitled.
You learn a lot more about benefits on this site than you will ever find out from the benefits people. I have even been asked to bring printouts of info given from one of the people here (Fran) as the benefits people didn`t know their own rules.0 -

wiv tax credits bcos it is such a big benefit if u undastand me, it covers a wide group of people, not just the families on low income, new senarios pop up all the time, and new guidance is bein written constantly, i think wen they thought of the whole thing, they didnt realise just how different and how much peoples lives change on a daily basis, it isnt the people that actually work the benefits that are clueless
