JSA - Savings which relate to the money you are given? Can you change your claim?

Hello
When I signed on, I had slightly over the 6 thousand pound mark in a few accounts I'd been given by my grandparents as a child, so it meant I was deducted £5 a week of jobseekers.
As we all know, the now 67.50 previously 62.50 was no where near enough to live on and I live with my family so have to pay rent, and don't get any help for housing, etc. Recently I've had to buy things vital such as a new computer as my old one failed. I'm now under the savings limit, and I wondered if there is a way to to adjust my JSA, so I will be given the full allowance. Is this possible? Or are you set to the amount you receive when the JSA commences? I've been on JSA for 5 months, and who knows how long it could last, so I don't want to lose £20 each month, which could really help me.
Thanks
Marie

So you have always been on income based JSA, not contribution JSA, presumably because you had made no (or insufficient) NI contributions in previous contribution years.
When you completed the paperwork to make the claim, I would have expected that it included a requirement to notify them of changes to your circumstances. As spending your savings has changed your circumstances, I would think you should tell the DWP so that they can make any adjustments to your JSA payments.
What sort of work are you looking for? Have you had many interviews?0
