The first post in the thread advised that Alliance and Leicester have declined to lend them the full amount required so it doesnt look like this option is a goer.

    I did see that

But have you asked A&L directly or asked an adviser to put a case to A&L?

For an extra £10k there may be a little leeway

The term you are looking at may be influencing the mortgage amount they will offer.

    Hi There,

I have asked A&L for a little leeway, but, they are sticking to what they have originally told me!

Fair enough - just out of curiosity what mortgage term did you ask them for?

    Hi There,

I asked for the mortgage over 25 years (hubbie is 38 and Im 36).

Do you think this would have made a difference to their answer?

    URGENT MORTGAGE QUESTION

When you apply for a mortage, is it generally true that debts that are due to be cleared in the next 6 months are not taken into account?

Also - if I have debts (which I do!) but am not paying a pension at the moment, will that help as it will not be part of my outgoings? I was hoping my not paying a pension right now would off-set my personal loan payment.

    Any advice gratefully received!
