Cancelled direct debit before completion..help!

Hi there
This isn't strictly a 'money saving' question but seeing as it's a Sunday I'm hoping for some advice since I won't be able to get any from solicitors or banks today..
My fixed rate mortgage with the Halifax has just come to an end and I'm switching to a better deal with the Co-op. My completion date is the 1st May and the balance money required to complete is with the solicitor. I pay my mortgage repayments on the 27th, so I've just paid my last one to the Halifax. My Co-op mortgage advisor advised me to cancel my direct debit since the last payment has gone, so I've done that, but now I've noticed on my solicitor's letter with the confirmation of completion says in block capitals *not* to cancel direct debits until the completion date!
I'm asking may there be a small balance with the halifax to pay within the 28th-30th April that may affect my completion, or would this be included in my redemption with the Halifax? I am guessing that it is, but am now paranoid about it! I've done some googling about it and there's conflicting advice. Help!

Calm down there's nothing to worry about.
If completion is delayed you can set the direct debit up again anyway.
The solicitor will get a settlement figure from Halifax for a specific date with a daily rate of interest should there be a delay.0
