I've lost one of the keys for my 02 new model fiesta. I'm looking to find out how cheaply I can get one cut. I believe the include some kind of code and this means most keycutters can do them.

The keys have electric passive immobilisers in them.
When you put the key near the ignition a current flows through it and disables the security systems (in a simple way).
Ford main dealer only i'm afraid. I think they are usually £80-£100.

Ahh samtheman,i am Ford Partsman by trade....if you had a "Red master key" with the car i.e the plastic is all red & still have it then no probs BUT if you didnt then its the later system and you NEED 2 keys to program in another one...like what Ben L was saying.
clear as mud....

Sorry to Hijack the thread,but..
My sons house was burgled on Tuesday, they took his car keys and stole the vehicle(Fiesta Zetec 97),but they parked it down the road, locked it up and left it there????
We had to take it to the Ford dealer, who changer all the locks,eg ignition/2 door/boot and filler cap and reprogramed the imobiliser and red key.
I did get a price for the parts only, they were £68 +vat.....but the total cost was £332.
The only problem is,the car is running like a dog since we have had it back.
Before it went to the garage,we had removed one of the HT leads overnight incase the burglers came back with the key and tried to steal it again,so i don't know if unplugging the HT lead has caused a problem somehow, anyway,i will have to book it back in.
Any ideas though?Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0 -
Morning Carl,
The zetec engine is prone for problems with the HT leads & spark plugs.I arnt a mechanic only a parts man but i would say you need to replace both..HT leads & s/plugs.... not a cheap do though, unless you can get trade discount, just ask cause you never know.....

Feel free - more we learn the cheaper. I have checked my manual - its one of the new system whereby you need 2 keys to program another key - and i've only got one! I've put a £10 bounty up at mine and the girlfriends house as it could be expensive otherwise!
