There are still quite a few samplers left at Canary Wharf Clintons, I've caved in a bought 4 at 88p each....just to support Clintons staff you understand. They are away from the large display, near the door as you go in. They only have the samplers left now on sale, all the others are gone - and they had tons so they've either withdrawn then or someone had bought LOADS!! Not me, honest guv.

Nooooo! This is awful news....er....where will the stock go I wonder....

NEARLY half the stores owned by stricken chain Clinton Cards are to close, with the loss of around 2,800 jobs.
Administrators delivered the devastating news in a shock announcement to staff yesterday.
Zolfo Cooper said 350 of the group’s 784 stores will start to shut from Monday next week and closures will carry on into June.
The mass cull will include ALL of the firm’s Birthdays-branded stores and around 200 under the Clinton Cards name.
Exact locations, timings and employee numbers will be confirmed shortly, Zolfo Cooper announced.

It's awful for the employees. I was in getting a birthday card the other day and they weren't taking card payments and the till drawers weren't in use so they had a plastic box for cash. They all just seemed like they didn't want to be there, which is completely understandable!

My local store is NOT on the list to close - hoorah. The Manager there is just the nicest man!

He saw me looking at the ever dwlindling selection of half price samplers (I'm like a moth to a flame for a candle offer!!) He said he has some more in the store room which he will get up for later today or tomorrow. We got chatting and I told him that usually I find Yankee candles too expensive to buy.

He then pointed out to me the offers of the month - sorry can't remember what they are - but it's 25% a particular scent each month - I think it's a pink one - something sands? Then he said that scent of last month is also still scanning at 25% off - AND that for some weird reason the Vanilla cupcakes are scanning today at HALF PRICE but are not marked down and he has no idea why!!

He said they weren't yesterday and he has no idea if they will tomorrow. And yes I did test it out ha ha, couldn't resist a large jar, never had one before!

He also said they are discontinuing the tarts (not sure if this is just this store or all of Clintons) because so many people come back disappointed because they didn't realise they don't have a wick and because they don't sell the burners....so may be a future offer there to look out for.....

The Staines branch had these 3 packs (but floral scents) reduced to £4 today, they had a mum sticker on the box so probably left over from mothers day but I may be able to remove it, not tried yet, the candles are just normal small jars though with no mum stickers on.
