I use a either a cocktail stick or a metal skewer to loosen the bits that encircle the prongs and then a pair of tweezers.

That's what I do on a regular basis but there was still this gunk left. I don't use hair products like hairspray etc so I am wondering if its anything to do with DD.
Anyway just to let you all know the dishwasher did the trick - one like new gunk free hairbrush :TI live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.0 -
hello, this is my 1st post on the OS forum, so a big hello.
Just wondering could anyone advise on how to remove that weird fluff/gunk stuff from a hairbrush. It takes ages to get it off. Also does anyone know what it is?
cheers !0 -
Hello. Welcome.
Dunno what it is.. but I usually soak my brush in hot water with shampoo added. Gets most of it, then I just pick at the rest.
Actually now I use a wide tooth comb so don't get that problem

I don't have any hair....well hardly any.... but when I did I found that dishwasher detergent in a jug of hot water is good!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Hi merchantofvenice,
Welcome to MSE :hello:
There's an older thread that might give you some more ideas:
Cleaning a Hairbrush
I'll merge your thread with that one later to keep all the suggestions together.
