Ccj - set aside judgment?

Can I apply to have a judgment set aside if I have already paid some money to the horrible bailiffs? I found out via a credit search that there was a CCJ against me and me ex jointly. He was supposed to settle the original bill, my mistake for trusting him I know. Therefore when I found out about the judgment, last month, I rang the bailiffs thinking I would be afforded some time to sort it. But no. I panicked over their threats and charges and paid half of the total balance, stupidly thinking this would go in my favour. But again, no. I have since learned that as I had not even known about the case, I could have applied to have the judgment set aside.
My query now is, is it too late to appeal to the courts?
Any advice welcome.
