Cougar Finance think I'm stupid.

First of all hello everyone
So I fell behind on my Capital One payments (£300 now) they passed it on to Cougar who called me relentlessly for which my dad can vouch for as he answered my phone a few times. I fired off the typical letter about revoking their rights to visit my property.
Well today I got a reply, first they said they don't have telephones so have never called me, then they said that only a court could stop them from coming to my house and despite the fact I have set up an agreement with Cap1 to pay the debt in full in a couple of weeks and informed Cougar of this they are still saying I must pay them. What's the best course of action here? They clearly think I'm a moron or something and I don't intend to let that fly.

Hi, I'm sure someone far more knowledgable than me will be along soon but I'll add my 2 pence worth from what I know!
The only way they can send a baliff to your door is if they take out a CCJ against you, which is highly unlikely to have happened without you knowing about it!
This in turn means Cougar are debt collectors, who have no legal power over you and certainly no legal right to force entry or anything should they turn up on your doorstep.
If I were you I would refuse to deal with them by phone and insist on letter only, which it seems you are doing already
I hope this helped a little!

Thank you
if they do decide to show up on my doorstep I fully intend to tell them to get lost. 0 -
Ah my friends Cougar Financial Services. I miss their letters :rotfl:
You have done the right thing about revoking teh right to visit and hopefully you also added the 'harrassment by telephone' letter?
I defaulted on a C1 CC but had a arrangement with them direct and pay £300 a month to clear the default. I received numerous phone calls and threating letters from CFS and did this:
1. Revoke the right to visit letter
2. Phone Harrasment letter
3. CCA Request - this will mean they will put your account on hold until they have got this
4. I heard nothing from CFS for 8months and then had a letter from P2C (sub division of Cougar) threatening with a visit, date came and guess what, nothing happened
5. I wrote to CFS with the help of another forum how they cashed my cheque for the CCA but against the outstanding balance (this is illegal in itself) and that they never supplied a CCA and therefore until this is done, the account is UE
6. I send a copy of the letter to C1 and asked them to get these muppets of my back
7. I had an appology letter from CFS, they placed the account on hold and are dealing with the CCA request - This was in November 2011
I have since heard nothing off them. One thing, do everything in writing, no calls and send by registered post and keep their letters and envelopes should you need some evidence. And NEVER EVER sign the letters to either C1 or CFS so they can't suddenly find a signed CCCA

i got into trouble a few years back and was told that if an uninvited or unwelcome caller turns up just phone the police. it's easy and it worked for me. no one without a warrant card can insist on talking to you0
