"If you want wine for your meal or after, go to co-op because they label their suitable wines vegan"

Thanks letsgobilliejoe, this is a minefield, I didn't realise that wine might be a problem.
  • just wondering do you have any follow up to this? did it all go to plan?

Thanks for asking but we havent had them over yet, they are coming on the 24th.

Depending on the weather it will either be soup or salad to start, then the Moroccan veg and couscous as this is something I like and would cook for us and pud will probably be fresh fruit and ......I'm still deciding.

Having looked at the recipes everyone suggested it isn't the minefield that I imagined. I understand veggie but somehow vegan sounded much more restrictive and serious. I just wish I liked tofu but there is something about the feel of it on my tongue that I really dislike and I have tried it in various forms.

Lolly the trick to tofu is to freeze it, defrost it and then squeeze the liquid out. I wrap it in kitchen roll then press down on it with a plate. It stops it from having that jelly *gaggs* texture. I also like it chopped up and fried in a bit of olive, garlic & soy sauce before being added to currys ect, gives it a nice chewy texture.
