Need party ideas for mums 60th

My mum would like a party for her 60th birthday but i don't know what to do. She is the party organiser in our family but don't want her to do her own again like she did her 50th. I am torn with hiring a village hall and having a disco (bit boring) or going somewhere where most of it is done for us and we just turn up.
I have asked my dad and he doesn't seem bothered and happy to let me get on with it but i just can't do it all.

Can any one think of any ideas of places we can go to? in the past we have done skittle night (couple of times), been to the dogs, bowling etc so want something different. It's got to be some where where the kids can all go too so prob will just end up at the village hall.

Fancy dress parties are great fun.

Hire a hall, caterer and a disco. The fancy dress is part of the entertainment.

I had one for my 50th and it was great fun.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Depends on the size of the party and the budget.

Theres so much to do but difficult to judge depending on numbers

Well if we went some where like the dogs say then it would be just family but there are about 22 of us but if we went to a hall we would invite friends too and it would prob be double that or more. We are open to any budget cos dad would pay he just can't sort anything out.

  • I had a 50's nght for my birthday. I made a cd of all the great songs of that era, I made reams and reams of polka dot bunting, which actually made the place look amazing. I got 100 polka dot balloons from a local supplier -cost £15 and a balloon chute for a tenner-was cheaper than internet. I made a polka dot cake using the mary berry christmas cake for £2 mix that I found mentioned on here-it was fab. Poundland had polka dot table covers and napkins I got from the balloon supplier, wilkinsons etc. I got my dress from la frock and was delighted with it.

I was happy to do everything and my fiance was a fantastic help-so don't be afraid to delegate.

I would go with the village hall option.

Oh yes and Elvis was in the building-lol

Thanks lissadenton sounds like you had a fab party. I think with all the children we have in the family we are best at a village hall. They have a bar we can also hire cos your not allowed to take your own so that will be an added cost though.
Food will be a bit of a pain to have to do so i think i will ask some family to all bring something to help.

I am trying to get old of some old pics which is proving hard. My grandad can't find any at all :( iv'e asked my aunt and she has some but got a feeling they won't be old enough.

  • Have a theme party or Fancy dress. The theme could be dress up like rockstars or celebrities. Cake could be arranged according to theme. Get a karaoke if she enjoys singing. Hope this helps :)

I went to a 50th birthday fancy dress party recently in a village hall. It was decorated with bunting and balloons and everyone had to take some food. We just crossed off a list what we were all taking and it was a great night with plenty of food. Someone had even made little goody bags for the children. The lady who the party was for did not want presents thats why she asked us to help with the food.
  • On my mum's 60th I organised a party, with a forties theme (she was born in the forties). I chose a gold and black colour theme and dressed the tables and walls myself, and bought gold and black balloons (a weighted arrangement on each table). Everyone dressed in forties clothing and I printed out loads of photos of her and her family from her childhood in black and white (lots of men in their uniforms) and decorated the walls with those. We had to pay for a band/disco but everything else was home made. It was a great night, even the food had a forties theme.
Hope your mum has a great night. xx
