people do go without a car , but having one makes your life easier .

enquiring again they agreed for us to pick the hotel so I looked on the web site and found two really nice ones which we would have to pay £300 more which would greave me but still, so I rang again only to be told that I couldn't have the Thomson internet price and would have to pay another £750!!
what my main issues are that that they didnt ask us where we wanted to be moved to and its further out then what we wanted (we havent hired a car) and how can that charge £750 extra to change when its only £300 on their website,
Reading OPs post back again Im now abit confused to what is going on.0 -

It's standard Thomson booking conditions which essentially say if your hotel is no available for any reason the company can offer an alternative of equal standard and the holiday contract still stands. This is exactly what Thomson have done so your advice is not correct in this instance.
I think you will find that it is.
Major Changes To Your Holiday
Occasionally, we have to make major changes to the flight or accommodation making up your holiday with us. If we tell you about any of these changes after we have confirmed your holiday booking, you may either:
- accept the new arrangements offered by us; or
- accept a replacement holiday from us of equivalent or closely similar standard and price, if one is available; this can include the choice of a replacement holiday from another TUI Travel Group company. Should you choose this option the terms and conditions of your holiday will not change and these conditions will still apply to your booking; or
- cancel your holiday with us and receive a full refund of all monies paid. :rotfl:

Other than cancelling, getting a full refund and then seeing if there are any late deals at a better price for where you actually want to stay, i would just go with the International Palms. Thomson are not going to budge i would think and so if you find it is bad when you get there, complain and if you get nowhere fill in a complaint form and take it up on your return.
Take Trip Advisor with a pinch of salt. Saying that though there are some decent reviews for that hotel so i think you will be fine.:beer:0
