Me and my fianc! are off for our first mortgage meeting next week and we have everything crossed that they say yes but we are still so worried they are going to turn us down.
I am employed and he is self employed, I have two employers but earn around £16,500 per year. My fianc! has been self employed for two nearly three years and has 2 years completed books.
We are only looking for a small ish mortgage around £85,000 and we have 20% of that as a deposit.
We have had loans and credit cards and paid them off before the given time.
Just wanting a little advice as to what other people have been through and if we will get turned down or not?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Is the mortgage meeting with a broker? I would have a meeting with a broker before the bank. A (good) broker will be able to tell who will accept you and who will turn you down without having failed applications.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

You dont say what your partners income has been for the last 2 years. So long as hes earning around £10k or more than it sounds like you will be fine.
Some lenders do require 3 years accounts so you might not have a full selection of lenders but you shouldnt have too many problems.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi there
As has been advised-do go to an independent "whole of market " broker who will know the best place to apply in relation to your circumstances.
If you had intended to go to your bank because of loyalty/thinking they know you best-this might not be the case as they do tend to "cherry pick" these days.
Best of luck.
