How do I remove parcel tape from fridge?

I've just had my kitchen re-done and I thought that I was being clever by taping up the fridge door with that shiney brown tape that you use for parcels. I've tried peeling it off and it seems that the top layer of tape has come off but the bottom layer is stuck fast. It's not sticky and gooey like sellotape would be but smooth.

Any suggestions as my lovely new kitchen will look horrible with the messy fridge!

I would use .... the same parcel tape to remove any glue left by any tape.

Just cut a strip and use it on your fridge the same way a beautician would use a waxing strip: place it on the area, pat it, and rip it off.

Some of the old glue should stick to your fresh brown tape and come off.

Repeat with a fresh strip until all glue is 'waxed' away.

    I hope this make sense.

    Wow!

I just tried the WD40 as that was the handiest. I scraped gently with the edge of a tupperware lid and it's all off now. I thought that I'd have to live with it.

It's also had the added bonus of making me as high as a kite with the smell!!

Thanks to everyone for the advice!
