Before the panic starts!! does anyone have any ideas as to why a mortgage offer from Santander made on Friday would now, today, be temporarily withdrawn?
As we were due to exchange today our solicitor has been on the phone but was not able to find out why.!!
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you ready to exchange although the offer was only received a few days ago?
Normally legal work only starts in earnest once the offer is in place.0 -
I genuinely have no idea and to be honest I do not even want to guess as I am sure you are stressed enough as it is without us all speculating what it may be as none of my suggestions would be good news...
I genuinely hope you get this resolved and once resolved would be interested to know the reasons....
Fingers crossed for youI am a Mortgage Broker

All the legal work has been done, It's a long story.
A joint mortgage application was rejected by natwest apparantly they didn't give a reason as to why then it was suggested we apply to nationwide in a single name (one of us was made redundant) which was approved however they didnt like one name on the mortgage and two on the property so it was suggested we re-apply in joint names but I said I wasnt prepared to pay again so it was suggested we go through santander as we are both working now.
So everything is in place except a mortgage...and we have lots of footprints all over our 'once very clean' credit report. When you get to the end of your tether, tie a knot and hang on.0 -
Update...
We are all sorted now, it seems that maybe our mortgage broker failed to disclose pertinent information.
I had a call from the broker to say all ok now when i asked if they needed uptodate pay details he said that that was all ok but he also said that 'banks share information' which makes me think he was at fault.
Either way all is going ahead now. :jWhen you get to the end of your tether, tie a knot and hang on.0 -
I was waiting for your update, well done for getting sorted but this is highly unusual and I am still a little shocked they took these steps.
I doubt you will ever get to the bottom of this although the most important thing is that you have the mortgage you need.
Nice one - now you can enjoy the weekend...!I am a Mortgage Broker

From submission of application, how long did it take Natwest to reject it?0 -
You still worried the smuggling of that biro and its subsequent return smelling of bottoms may have scuppered your chances?
I told you - it wasn't a biro.
I don't get it. They asked me if they could take the money for the valuation on Monday, but they still haven't done it or taken the money. What the deuce?0 -

I'm no expert but I'd imagine they'll deduct the money when they have a confirmed date and time for the survey.2012 Wins: 1 x Case of Lanson Champagne :beer:0 -
Makes sense. I just naturally assumed that they'd do the valuation within a few days of asking if they can take the money for it.
If they're going to reject me, I wish they'd just do it already. It's been one and a half weeks since I filled the application out. How hard can it be just say, 'Pfff. This guy's an !!!!!!!. Reject him already.'
Come on Natwest. Come at me, bro. Or are you all talk and no trousers? Yeah, s'what I thought.0
