How long does it take Inland Revenue to pay out?

I have recently claimed for 3 years back pay for mileage allowance for my wife while she has been using our own car for her job. Does anybody know the usual timescale for the Inland Revenue to pay out on these claims? I used all the correct forms etc etc and have a record of all mileages done but have never recieved confirmation off them to say they have received the forms.

Have you tried ringing them?
I had a rebate last year for overpaid tax in the period 07/08 so it does take time. The HMRC are rather busy at the moment too with tax returns.0 -
Ahhh interesting. I also overpaid tax from the tax year just gone, and I was told that the job centre is responsible for completing the necessary request/information so they can refund you the tax. I was told it usually takes 4-6 weeks, but I doubt it would be that quick.0
