Advice about loans taken out in our name.
For the last few months we keep getting bothered by banks and credit agencies who are chasing a man who happens to have the same name (but better lifestyle!!) than my husband. The debt is not connected to us in any way, and is a significant amount of about £50,000.
How can I put a stop to this? Is there an organisation that I could complaint to about it?
More worringly we are not sure whether the man concerned has given the banks and credit companies our details on purpose or not. If he has, can we press charges or something?
Also we do not know if all these goings on will affect our credit rating.
Some sound advice would be warmly welcomed
Thanks

By bothered do you mean telephone calls or letters?
If it is letters then just return them 'not known at this address', if it is telephone calls then just say politely that he is not known at this address and number and put the phone down.
If you keep getting them establish what the number is and complain to BT.0 -
I would be very concerned if this person had the same name as your husband, as YES. It can effect your credit rating. I suggest you get your husband to get a credit check at checkmyfile.com or a similar site just in case.
Then if their is anything being confused with your husband that isn't him then you could file for a notice of correction
