Need help with import tax

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but i didn't know where to put it.
I have bought my boy some bumpers for his radio controlled car from the united states but i didn't know that i would have to pay any import duty  So i have checked on duty calculator and it's say that i will have to pay £28.33 but this is more than what i paid for the bumpers. So could someone tell me if this sounds rite as i only paid $25.60 for the bumpers and $6.25 p+p with usps.

The 'duty' rate is going to be between 0% and 5% ...... but the VAT will be 20%. So on your total of $31.85 (postage is included) the additional tax will be in the range $6.5 to $8.

But the customs handling charge levied by the shipper for clearance / payment of the duty and VAT will add somewhere in the region of an extra £10
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
