How to use up hair conditioner we don't like?

Hi everyone! I'm sure I've read something on here before, but have been searching for ages and ages with no luck. Have an almost full bottle of tea-tree conditioner (Mr T, 500 ml) from when the kids were younger and we were paranoid about those ''little visitors'', as we used to call them! No-one in the house likes it now so it's been hanging about for a while, and I wondered what else I could do with it? (Polite answers only, please, lol!). It's quite a thick consistency. I seem to recall a suggestion about using it as a pre-wash stain treatment or something? Can't use it up in the bath as it's too thick and anyway, I'm not too keen on the smell, TBH! Seems a waste otherwise...any ideas, folks?? Thanks. :)

conditioner can be used to shave your legs, good for helping a razor glide.

i find if i get static hair, a small amount rubbed onto dry hair helps to tame it plus if you get knots too same thing seems to help.

Why not try using it as a bubble bath to help any family members with break out prone skin? Not sure if this would work but could be worth a try, I'd shave with it as it should soothe the skin.

Do you know any families with primary school age children to pass it onto?

Brilliant for shaving as pp said. Also, could be used as an intensive conditioner... Cover dry hair in it and sleep (on a towel) when you wake up should be hard... Wash your hair as usual (tea tree smell gone!) and will be very soft x

Can also be used rubbed into skin as a moisturiser; the hairdressers at my local salon all use conditioner as hand cream, I've seen them do it.
Suppose that's no good if you don't like the smell, but maybe use it on your feet overnight or something?

Dilute it, put it in a spray bottle, use it to clean bath/sink, toilet. Put it in a dispenser and use as handwash. Use as a fabric conditioner in the washing machine. Apply to bath water as taps are running, will soften the water. Dilute it in a bucket of water and wash car with it.

  • I have some conditioner which I don't like and use it to clean the toilet and sink. I'm definitely going to try shaving with it. Some great suggestions :)

Wow...thanks everyone...I was rummaging in the toiletries cupboard again this morning, determined to do a 'stocktake' so that I don't keep buying loads more stuff (a particular weakness is the £ shop, and my local chemists have a '£1' section, so every time we need a prescription, I am faced with temptation...!). Once again I just couldn't believe how much stuff there was in there. Started to decant stuff and mix things up ready to dispose of or use. I've realised I already dilute the dregs of bottles of softener etc. for cleaning basin etc -- how comes I didn't think along the same lines for the conditioner? Probably 'cos it's a whole new bottle, not the dregs, ha ha!!, and the brain just doesn't see it as the same thing.....to be honest, I just got so fed up keep moving the bloomin' bottle around every time I go to the cupboard, I stopped for a coffee break and the lappy caught my eye...hence the posting!

The foot thing sounds good -- could put on loads before bedtime with a pair of old socks on top, and let it work overnight. Will definitely give that one a go.

Lots of good stuff there as usual :) Thanks, everyone! :)
Sometimes we just seem to get a bit stuck with our thinking, eh!
