After a long course of antibiotics I have developed thrush on my tongue:eek: Is there anything I can get for it over the counter? I have been drinking probiotic yoghurts and it has cleared up a little.

You can buy Canesten once tablet, but they are very, very expensive. Why not just go to your GP and get a prescription for Daktarin oral gel, works very quickly and will cost the standard prescription fee.Good luck,it's a horrible thing to have.

I don't think Canesten products can be used to treat oral thrush. I think the only product available OTC is as the above poster mentioned miconazole (Daktarin oral gel).
As it is a result of taking antibiotics it's probably worth going back to your GP and discussing it with them. They will be able to prescribe you something such as Nystan suspension or Fungilin lozenges which will hopefully clear it up.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

If you can't get to your doctor go and discuss it with a pharmacist. They will be able to tell you if there is anything over the counter you can use.0

Agree with poster above. I do not know of any products in particular, but work in a pharmacy and am sure that if you go and see the pharmacist for advice he/she will recommend the right product without having to book an appointment. They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0

Hey there,
What I've read has said that oral thrush can follow after using antibiotics... maybe not right after the first time in your life (I suppose it could) but more after a bit of overall usage.0 -
corsodyl mouthwash is very good.
Or go to the gp, my baby had it after he was born & they gave some drops. Can't remember what they were though!
