Phone calls to loan witness

I went bankrupt 2 and a half years ago. I have just had a call from my old neighbour who witnessed my signature on a secured loan form, who says she has had 2 or 3 phone calls from a loan company that want to speak to her regarding a loan. She thinks it is because of witnesssing my signature.
Is this something they would do? But the witness is nothing to do with the actual loan are they? I am not sure how to check either, and put her mind at rest. They did not mention my name or their company name on the phone, and I have not had any calls in months, so I find it odd they would just randomly ring a witness without trying to get in touch with me.
Anyone experienced anything like this?

ToriD29, I haven't heard of this before tbh bumping up the board for more replies. I would send a letter to this loan company with your BR number and saying it was included in your BR.
Letter here to send and add not to contact any other person either:-
Letter to creditors making demands for payment after bankruptcy
Best wishes

ive not heard of it before either, all the ex neighbor can do really is talk to them and see what it is about, it may be nothing to do with you at allHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Was it a big loan, in other words worth chasing?
It's unlikely, but I wonder if the loan company is hoping to prove the loan was not correctly witnessed, thereby giving them some legal redress.
The neighbour is already nervous about the calls, what you don't want her to do is say something stupid out of misguided fear she could be liable.
I take it you are both certain she merely witnessed your signature, and didn't sign to guarantee the repayments.0 -
Tell her that loan companies are scumbags who will try to trick her into saying something over the phone. Tell her to demand that if they wish to contact her, they do so only in writing.0

^^^^ That would be my worry too.0 -
Is a loan normally witnessed, i thought it only needed the sig. of the borrower.
Seems a bit strange.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

In fairness, they are the bees knees when people want to borrow money from them, they are only scum bags when people dont or cant pay them back.
People are too quick to call them scum bags in my opinion.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Fair comment... maybe I should be clearer.
The DCAs the loan companies employ are scumbags 90% of the time. The amount I've had chasing me for stuff I don't even owe is ridiculous. They are so aggressive most of the time, if I didn't know how to "play the game" with them, I'd probably have ended up paying for debts that didn't belong to me.0
