I like the paragraph towards the end that suggests it may be down to the warm weather. I can safely say that I've never bought a house that I didn't otherwise want because of unseasonably warm weather. A pair of shorts maybe, but a house?

In due course 2007 will be written into the history books as the end of an era.

So yes, in terms of measurement is the base point that the following 10 to 20 years will be compared to.
