Redundancy & Maternity

Can anyone help with our situation please, my wife is nearly seven months pregnant, and her employers are currently looking for voluntary redundancies, before they must make compulsory redundancies. If she was to be made redundant before she went on maternity leave, I understand her employer must still pay her maternity pay? Does anyone know if this is also the case if she applies for voluntary redundancy?

I'm not 100% sure, but I *think* that if they make you redundant during the period from when you can start your maternity leave, then they have to oay you SMP. Nno idea if this applies for voluntary redundancy, but you could always negotiate it into the package?

I believe SMP should be paid by the employer even if voluntary redundancy. However, if there was other maternity arrangements in place (for example, 3 month full pay) she would lose her right to that.
