I'm afraid your very first statement was an opinion (bordering on advice) based on your own situation. I appreciate this was almost 2 hours ago and Countdown has since been distracting you
Next you'll be telling me you prefer Deal or No Deal.
Regardless, if you do wish to move I believe Halifax are still willing to entertain the porting of those mortgages for existing customers so you should be fine. The J is a Financial Advisor-This site doesn't check anyone's status and as such any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as financial advice. If their criteria are met. OP, you might be interested to know that, at present, it appears that any existing Halifax mortgage-holder can still apply for the kind of older person's mortgage I've got. I mention that in case you might want to see if you can get a fixed-rate repayment mortgage with the Halifax, and then, provided they don't move the goalposts, and provided you can meet the eligibility criteria, in a couple of years you might be able to move to Retirement Home Plan Mortgage. But obviously there would be a risk that things might change before you got your interest-only mortgage.
There's a description of the criteria at http://www.equityreleasesupermarket.co.uk/the-halifax-retirement-home-plan.html. I don't know how accurate it is.
Good luck.0 -
