Tax Penalties?

I have recently been sent a tax penalty notice since sending tax forms electronically in January using software recommended by the Inland Revenue, I promptly sent a letter stating the date and time they were sent plus photocopies and have not been contacted since about these forms but I have now been sent another penalty notice as I hadn't included the partnership tax form, will I still be fined once this has been sent?

Did you file all the returns on time? Note that a partnership implies a minimum of 3 returns - one for the partnership, one for each partner.

If you did not, then was there any tax to pay? Strictly this is no longer relevant due to the rule change, but I expect some sort of challenge in the next few months at a Tribunal from someone who has been hit with penalties despite having no tax to pay.

Hi chrismac1 the returns were filed on time (2 x SA100 - main form and 2 X SA104 - partnership) but I believe I should have filed SA800 which is the company form.

The company is fairly new and is running at a loss, so there is no tax to pay.
