mmmm scones, I haven't made any for ages. They look lovely, but as I am a savoury kind of girl I usually make cheese scones, made some rock buns the other night and I am sure I hadn't made any since I was at school ha ha they lasted all of about ten minutes, I went back for more and they had disappeared...

Mmmm.. cheese scones, I'd forgotten how yummy they are just out of the oven :) And I'd totally forgotten about rock cakes... :)

I know it took me back years and years, to when I was little and helping out in the kitchen, I think this is where my love of baking came from, and I have passed it on to my son, who is brilliant in the kitchen.

Well done Heffi1, a lot of men can't even boil an egg, your son has got a great advantage there :T:T

When my son was about 2 my friend went into hospital for her second child and her husband, a soldier was home looking after the first son, well he got in such a mess, his mother came to stay for the duration, we lived in Germany, so it was planned, she smelled something and on investigating saw that he had put a meat pie into the oven to warm up for his lunch - it was still in the plastic wrapper  - he thought it would be ok .

I swore then my children would be able to cook and clean and manage their life all by themselves, if they later found partners to do stuff for them then that was a bonus, but they would at least have the skills to look after themselves.

I was so shocked that anyone could be so stupid.

Good for you :T:T:T:T Everyone should be able to look after themselves, OK not everyone's going to be a brilliant cook, or love ironing  but the basics, definitely.....
