Thanks for the reply. I have read many things about the service offered by HSBC, what are First Direct like? Any experiences?

Didn't realise that, thanks. So I can expect similar services then (using countrywide)

Post office declined me for a mortgage of my own about 9 months ago for a pretty petty reason - perfect credit history, affordability wise i easily met the criteria, so i wouldnt say they were the most lenient - theyre backed by AIB off memory.

Co op i have no experience of at all so i cant comment one way or the other.

First Direct seem good to me- currently going through the process. As they said on the phone to me "we are part of the HSBC group but like to do things a little different". I really like the fact there is unlimited overpayments allowed too!
