False address when applying for personal loan
Comments
-
what if someone uses a false address for getting a personal loan. I wont go into detail here, but someone has used my address to get a loan yet that person does not live at my house.
What can I do about it .. advise required
thanks in advance
Well the names won't match on the electrol role for starters, see they won't of got the loan.
How do you know this?0 -
Then the advice you receive won't be very good.I wont go into detail here
My advice is to add a little more detail. For example...
Is this person registered on the electoral roll at your address, ie (s)he's lived there previously?
Have you had any loan documentation through for this other person?0 -
no the person has never lived here, not sure if he has put my address down on the register.
No paper thru post,as far as I am aware.
Reason I found out was someone knocked on my door around 6pm.. asking for this person. Told him no one by that name lives here, told me he took a personal loan out using this address and came to collect the monthly payment.
I got the loan company number so will ring them up in the morning.0 -
Report to the police.0

need to go to council office tomorrow and look at electrol register to see if he has put his name down on my address.. obviously this is a illegal to give false information. If he has, then will need to lodge complaint with council and take name off then deal with loan company as to what checks they did before they processed the loan.
Any website I can have a look at for more info on how best to approach this.0 -
do you know the person personally? Maybe a previous tenant/owner at your address? All you can do is keep saying they no longer live there and write to tell the company involved.0

Write to the company, make sure you keep a copy of the letter.
I'd advise sending it recorded delivery too.
The police don't always take it seriously unless you've lost out financially (as in, had money come out of your account), but I'd still report it.
I had loads of letters come through my door from a debt collection company for a loan from quickquid. Literally had nothing to do with me. Wasn't in my name, but used my address.
Think they had to write it off in the end, serves them right. From £8,800 to £2,200 in 2 years.
Nearly there, just the 0% credit card to go!0 -
It's called fruad so expect that persons collar to be felt...this will be followed by (hopefully) a custodial sentence and some picking up soap duty etc etc"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

The police won't even investigate it unless a person has lost.
If the only loser is the finance company, they'll just advise the company to write it off.
That's what I was told when I contacted them. The company told me that I wouldn't receive any more contact and that was it.
They say that the cost to investigate far outweighs the amount lost.
Kind of silly though, surely it's better to catch these crooks before they do start costing real people money.
Have you checked that they haven't used any of your bank details and stuff? Probably unlikely, but worth checking. From £8,800 to £2,200 in 2 years.
