Little advice needed

Hi all,
im just looking for abit of advice. I recently won a competition for a nursery furniture set from made for mums site.
I found the post and it says its worth £600, this comes at a great time as one of my close friends is expecting.
Well it was arranged for delivery for friday the 13th and cancelled as they said there was a problem with the delivery. This was ok but as i was going on holiday on the sunday i had to get a friend to go to my house to be there for delivery on tuesday.
Ive com home now to find that the cot is missing screws meaning that the bottom is not attached properly and not currently usable, it is scratched down one side and on the wardrobe door handle is sticky and would definatley need to be changed.
Just wondering if you thought this was acceptable. I dont really want to complain as i havent paid for the set but just think if something is stated as been worth £600 it should come as that. Not damaged?
What would you do? accept it or complain?
Thank you

Hi casflash
I would politely complain to them, because regardless of whether you won or purchased the furniture, you should get what is stated. And if the cot is not usable, that is a hazard. I think you have a right to complain, don't feel like you haven't just because you haven't paid for the goods. Contact them asap - and plus you won't be losing anything by contacting them. So definitely contact them
If in doubt Comp, Comp and Comp :j0 -
Hi casflash,
I completely agree with N15H. You still have consumer rights whether you won or bought a prize (i'm sure I read somewhere) so would definately contact them about it. They might have just passed your details on from the company who makes the furniture in any case and might not be aware of the poor quality of the set. I'd be more polite about it than if I were a paying customer, but would still complain none the less.
Fingers crossed you get the matter sorted
I smile because I have absolutely no idea what's going on:dance:0 -
I also agree with the above, especially if it is nursery furniture and is unsafe and unsuitable!
Just keep it polite at first and hopefully they will be decent enough to sort it out for you!0 -
I would bring it to their attention as you said it's worthless if it isn't working properly.
Good luck.Hope you get it sorted soon.:grouphug::lovethoug:lovethoug Keeping busy very important at the moment. Lost my loving partner this year. Always in my thoughts.0 -
Agree agree.... also usually the site or company you won with is not the same company as where the prize has come from.. so they would probably be interested to know anyway..keep us posted on the outcome x
On a lighter note.. well done on the win!BACK and READY..... waiting on Royal Mail!!!0 -
I would politely ask about the condition it arrived in, that doesn't sound right. That sort of thing has only happened to me once (I bidded in a charity auction on one item and they sent me a very similar item that was missing one of the components described) and I personally think that there is nothing lost by mentioning politely that it wasn't what you expected it to be.Thank you competition posters!
