Debt Collector help!!

Hello guys I am new so please bear with me.
I am in quite a lot of financial trouble, and I have managed to rack up debts worth 19K mainly buying and replacing things which we have needed because we have a disabled daughter and can not get funding for. I have been to Citizens Advice and they have told me because I have a disabled child and am her full time carer my only option is to go bankrupt. I am in the process of doing this but in the mean time i am being bombarded with letters telling me that door step collectors will call.
I just want to know if this is scare mongering, or if they really do home visits? What are my rights?
I am a little worried, but only because I am sure CAB told me door step collectors would only call if a CCJ was in place? I have not had any CCJ letters at all only requests for payment.

Usually these are empty threats.
In the rare cases where one does call, you just tell them to go away. If they refuse or cause hassle then call the police.
They are not bailiffs. They have no rights. They have no legal powers. You can tell them to get lost.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

You can send them a letter recorded telling them that you refuse their offer of a home visit, if you want a template letter for that come back here.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
For the longer term, I assume you've applied for DLA and carer's allowance but have you tried the Rowntrees Fund. We had a new washing machine from them and they also provide holidays. They do a home assessment and tell you how they can help. www.familyfund.org.uk Worth a try. Good luck.0
