buying ex-council flat

Hi - FTB. Hope to put an offer in for a flat but its ex-council and I'm worried that I might not be able to obtain a mortgage on it.
Its a split level 1 bed flat -building 4 storeys. Doesnt look like a concrete block but I guess that doesnt mean it isnt.
You get into the front door though a corridor that you cant access unless you have a key (so - like a covered walkway)
The vendor brought the property herself (but not though right-to-buy) in 2005 so there were obviously lenders who were happy to lend at the time.
It will be very frustrating not to be able to get a mortgage on something just because its ex-council - my budget means its my only realistic option unless i want to try for a studio flat.
Any advice much appreciated

Hard to say without knowing the property - a good start woulld be to ask the broker attached to the EA. Covered walkways can be an issue and the location and repossession numbers in the immediate area will also impact on the main mortgage application credit score (not the one done at decision in principle stage).0
