in Cutting tax
I Claimed for the Laundry allowance because I wear a uniform that is provided for me and has a company logo on it.
The Tax told me they can back date it to 2001 and these figure were on one of my letters.
This is on the back of one of my reply's
Year.......Claim (£) ..... Rate ... repay(£)..interest (£)...........Total(£)
01/2........ 40............X22%.......8.80.......0.88.......... ..........9.68
02/3.........40............X22%...... 8.80...... 0.71....................9.51
03/4.........40............X22%.......8.80.......0.49 ....................9.29
04/5........ 45............X22%.......9.90.......0.30.......... .........10.20
05/6........ 45............X22%.......9.90.......0.05.......... ..........9.95
total repayments........................................ ....................48.63
Adjustments/Increase in code =...48.63 X 100/22..............=.221
My tax code has gone from 503L to 530L
Is the £48.63 the tax to be paided on the given amounts?
and does this mean I will get a rebate of what's left?
(Help! I posted this on another thread and one of the reply's has confused me it say's after tax the £45 laundry allowence is only worth £9 a year)
The allowence is currently £45 and is taxable, £60 if your a nurse.

Your total refund for all back years up to and including 2005/006 is £48, they have increased your current 2006-2007 tax code by 221 allowances, which at 22% is £48.63. You are not entitled to £45 per year expenses, it's £45 at 22%. Hope this explains it.gtone28 wrote:I Claimed for the Laundry allowance because I wear a uniform that is provided for me and has a company logo on it.

I think you are mis-understanding. The allowance is not taxable. The allowance effectively reduces the amount that you get taxed on by the amount of the allowance. So it's like receiveing £45 of your salary without paying tax on it.
The allowance for nurses who launder their own uniform is £70.0
