Didn't tick student loan box on SA in error please help

I work full time for the NHS. During the 9/10 tax year I did a tax return for a small amount of Christmas waitressing and paid £600 tax. I got help from an ex accountant friend who filled the majority for me.
I now get a letter from the compliance team saying they are looking into my student loan payments as I didn't tick the box.
This is giving me sleepless nights.
What will happen? Will I be given a large penalty?
Any advice is welcomed, they are calling me today

£600 seems a lot of tax to pay for a "small amount" of waitressing - how much did you actually ear4n?0

Yes, the first question is how much did you earn in total that year, and did you go over the threshold for student tax repayments (I think it would have been £15K)?0
