Am loving all this sunshine! :D

Adding £13.20 profit from Ebay sales and £10 saved buying new suncream with boots points rather than real money.

House is a complete tip! Better get some cleaning done.

Spent the morning as DS's primary school. They have had an "olympic torch" event where the local high school kids have made their own and have organised a relay event to all the local primary schools. They had a vintage double decker bus, all the kids have been in red / white / blue with face paint etc. When the torch came the kids all did laps around the school field with their own "torches" they made and then the cheerleading squad performed. It was fabulous! Feeling all patriotic now. :T

    Afternoon

A few thing since I last posted -

    £12.50 T*sco vouchers,
£5.70 from eb*y (I'm not really expecting any more sales this month and I've reached my 99p listing total - unless eb*y want to give us a free listing weekend, hint, hint!),
60p for shampoo 'bought' in B*oots with points,
and £1.64 from As*a thing and a £5 voucher off my next £40 shop which I will use = £6.64.

Total is now £79.10/£155 and I should get a £10 McCa*ins voucher on Friday so quite happy actually!!

Hope everybody else is having a good week.
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

I seem to be failing miserabely at this challenge. And wonder if I should have just opted for the 5 pounds pd challenge. I have mostly made money from ebay but it has been such a stress with buyers letting me down though. Made 86.49 so far and hoping to sell an old sewing machine at the weekend. May have to try these mystery shopping and cash back sites. But i really do not get how cash back works. Is it completely free pennies?

Made 20 quid by selling something today at work. Unfortunately the money is going to my OH as I was selling it for him. Maybe I should charge commission...

Don't give up with things Angel. It has quite literally taken me months and months to chip away at this challenge and I have learned new tips and got ideas along the way. Even if you don't make target you have managed to make extra money that would not be there had you not bothered in the first place.

Cashback sites are places like quidco and topcashback. They are worth joining and pay you cash back on any online purchases that you make. Often not huge amounts but it does add up if you are doing it over time on stuff you are buying anyway. Sometimes, you can "gamble" making money on the cashback sites eg. bingo sites offer promotional rates and may pay you back £20 for an initial deposit of £10 = £10 profit to be made. Be careful with this though, because you need to ensure that you are not likely to get romanced into gambling and depositing more money as that defeats the object. There is also a small chance the cashback won't pay out and more often than not you are waiting a fair few months for it to come through into your account.

I think from your post you may be referring to the "voucher back" type sites such as swagbucks, maxi miles and superpoints. You can make money from these for free by doing certain daily tasks (clicking video's, doing polls / surveys etc) for which you get points added to your account. When points get to a certain amount you can cash out (usually by amazon voucher or paypal payment depending on the site). There are a few threads re: how to maximise on this. Some people do quite well and make a good amount on them. For me, I find it a bit labor intensive for the reward (which may be because I haven't got the hang of it). I do swagbucks and with fairly minimum effort get £5 amazon voucher a month. May not sound much but come Christmas it is £60 so well worth it.

£24.77 ebay sales to add today :)

Really tired today. Was up til' after 2 this morning, DS had a nose bleed that lasted 2 hours. He had one the night before that lasted 1hr. Going to GP tonight.

Had an eye test today. Thought it was going to be really expensive but the optician let me choose my glasses (frames + lenses) from the sales box. They cost £25 all in. The cheapest pair on the main racks were £55 and that was without the lenses.

It's each person's personal challenge, so entirely up to you whether you want to count those savings. If that's what you have been doing then does that mean you have been affording to pay the higher cost, (£30-£40 per week)? If so, then each time you go riding 3 or more times a week, put the extra (so £5 for the third time, and £10 for the fourth time and any more each) into either paying off a debt, or savings account - whatever it is that you are working towards. That way you may not notice that money each week going out as you have been spending it anyway, but you will notice it building up in savings or reducing debts.
Or if you've made the new arrangements because you couldn't afford to pay the extra, then ignore my rambling above :p

I could afford the amount before so will do as you suggest and stick it in savings instead. No debts to pay off so come on here for savings help, need to get that pot topped up! I don't think I'll count it in the challenge though, just sneek it away into the savings while my heads not looking. I really have to get rid of the ooo I saved xxx amount this month I can treat myself to ... I'm getting there, just slowly ^_^
