Best way to fly to Chamonix France from N Ireland

Hi all, Need some help. We intend to rent an apartment in Chamonix France in July/Aug this year as we like the mountain walks etc but we are trying to figure out the most direct and cheapest way to get there.

We are from L'Derry so we can fly to Standsted direct from our city with Ryanair or of course easyjet from Belfast. Any ideas. Would it be a nightmare train journey from Paris to Chamonix if we flew into Paris. Any advice welcomed..........

PS, just thinking is there anywhere else in europe that would give us the same mountain/alps experience but easier to get to. Last year we went to Westendorf in Austria which was great but the planes and trains to get there were just toooooooo much:o

Geneva is probably the closest access airport.
Fly direct from Dublin or probably via Stansted (dunno need to check Belfast direct is only the winter months).

Its a couple of hours by train to Chamonix with a number of stops or an hour or so by coach direct or less by hire car.

Thanks Joefizz. I looked at the Dublin flights to Geneva over £1000 for the 3 of us ouch!!! I may look at the border of Spain and France and see if I can get a cheapish flight as the self catering apartments are no problem getting.

Dolomites? Fly to Milan, Venice or Verona and then hire car.
