So my Mum is a member of Costco. She has my Dad and my brother on her account (she has to pay for my brother) and she said I can go on it next year (when i'm a student)- if I pay my bills. Just wondering if its worth it. These are things that I buy/will be buying from the supermarket
Fresh fruit and veg I will just get from the supermarket as limited space means I will need small amounts every few days. Likewise with fresh meat.
So rest of my shopping list:
Very lazy garlic
Tomato puree
Pasta
Pasta in sauce
Savoury rice
Pasta
Oxo cubes
Lea perrins
Diet coke
Robbinsons juice
Flavoured water
Soap powder
Fairy liquid
Fabric conditioner
Windolene
Kitchen cleaner
Can you get any of these in costco? I know you can get soap powder and fabric conditioner but wondering about other things?
Thanks

Hi beth.stephenson2009,
Why not check out the other costco thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1603897
Why not pop along on the next shop with your mum? I'm sure you must have seen the offer booklet that comes through the door as everyone that I know who is a member of costco keep it handy and visable.0 -
From memory:
Very lazy garlic - Yes
Tomato puree - Yes
Pasta - Not sure
Pasta in sauce - Not sure
Savoury rice - Yes
Pasta - Not sure
Oxo cubes - Not sure
Lea perrins - Yes
Diet coke - Yes
Robbinsons juice - Yes (but not a big selection)
Flavoured water - Yes
Soap powder - Yes
Fairy liquid - Yes
Fabric conditioner - Yes
Windolene - Never seen it
Kitchen cleaner - Yes
However, all of the above come in big, bulk purchase containers. Why not accompany them as a guest and take a look around?0 -
I would be inclined to go with you parents and stock up rather than bother applying for your own card.
I dont find all things at Costco cheap when compared to Supermarket offers, you could stock up at the beginning of term and then just buy top ups in between0 -

That way you save on the the cost of membership and if your friends also want to shop - brilliant! Go with them and meet your mum there or take their list with you. Your mum then gets dependant on card type cashback (a little thankyou from you).
Would say stock up when the relevant offer is on, and as that maynot be possible then split with your friends or even your mum if its cheaper then on mysupermarket.0 -
Costco is good for some things! IMO the meat is better quality than supermarkets but do you have a freezer?
Shops such as Home Bargains have jars of lazy garlic, oxo cubes, savoury rice, etc, which are much cheaper than Costco and come in smaller quantities.
I do like and use Costco but not for everything, it might be worth shopping around or sharing things with your Mum!0 -
I like Costco and there's certain things I know are good value and always buy from there. From experience though its not a great place to shop if you have limited space, even the VL Garlic comes in a huge jar that takes up valuable room in a small fridge and everything tends to be in bulk. I have a garage now so can store a lot of the stuff but it might not be the best place for you if you don't have much storage space.0

Its great for us. we get toilet paper kitchen rolls..t.bags and big sugar..soap powder and the meats..king prawns..some things are expensive so beware. It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0
